A minimalist approach to landscape photography?

Over the 25 years or so that I've been interested in landscape photography, I've used and experimented with many different types and formats of cameras. In the 'film only days' I used 35mm,120 medium format in 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7 and 6x9, and I've used large format. Of course each has it advantages and disadvantages; all of them do some things well, and some things either not at all, or are a compromise.

Although I've bought and sold a few cameras over the years, I'm certainly not an equipment collector, and have embraced a 'minimalist' attitude towards landscape photography, to the point where I've tried to get by with as little kit as is possible in the field.

One of the first trips out with the Fuji, I had driven to Hadrian’s Wall near Housteads to photograph frosted grasses following a very heavy overnight frost. It was very cold and the frost was perfect, though the sky was a featureless blue. After I saw the developed film, I saw the extent of the blue cast this created, which conveyed the cold of the day.
