Holme Fell & Hodge Close Quarry
Colin Bell
Ex video game maker, now a company advisor in the digital & creative sector and landscape photographer.
Over the last couple of months I’ve had cause to look back and reflect on my short time as a landscape photographer. I was invited to give a talk to Derbyshire Photographic Society at their annual weekend away, which, this year, was situated, at Rydal Hall in the Lake District. I prepared for this with not inconsiderable trepidation since, although I had given numerous talks and conference presentations in my professional life, I had never done so on anything so personal as my landscape photography. To an extent, that is part of the difficulty for an introverted individual such as I am, to open up about my photography is to open up about myself, which does not come easily.
When Tim invited me to write about my latest project entitled “Healing – Holme Fell and Hodge Close Quarry” I felt a huge kick up the backside; metaphorically of course, I don’t think Tim is a violent man! I’d been meaning to write about it for some time but making photographs comes more easily than writing words.
